Certified Biodynamic, Aurelien Verdet crafts complex and no-compromise wines from some of Côte-de-Nuits finest sites. These are must-try wines for Burgundy enthusiasts and those looking to discover the region’s true gems. Aurélien sources his Nuits-Saint-Georges from the Pertuis Maréchaux vineyard, which lies on the Vosne-Romanée side of the Nuits — a region renowned for its stylish, thoroughbred Pinot Noirs. The Pertuis Maréchaux vines are rooted in lighter limestone soils toward the top of the slope, resulting in a wine with an exceptionally elegant bouquet and smooth texture
2018 Domaine Aurelien Verdet Nuits St Georges – $94.95 per bottle – six packs.
Tasting Notes…A lovely bouquet packed with red currants, raspberry preserve and hints of spice, there is nothing shy about these aromatics or the texture and intensity, white pepper and clove appear with some air, focused bitter cherry, red berry and spice on the palate with added forest floor complexity and concentration. The finish is all there with a solid tannic back bone. Drink now or cellar for a decade.
2018 vintage report:
The 2018’S are juicy and, for the most part, with excellent definition and freshness. The reds are beautifully, richly pigmented, with expressive red berry aromas and succulent mid-palates, without the excesses of fruit density seen in warm vintages. 2018 is a meeting of ripeness and precision, which deserves a place in every Burgundy collection.
