“ONE OF THE GREAT VINEYARDS IN AUSTRALIA”

“Frankland Estate has emerged as one of the great vineyards of Australia” Huon Hooke – The Real Review.
Frankland Estate’s Isolation Ridge Vineyard has become an enduring symbol of one of the world’s most remote wine regions. The almost 40-hectare property was planted in 1988, with Hunter Smith the second generation to tend the vines, evolving the sustainable farming to achieving organic certification over a decade ago. When it was first planted, a family friend jokingly suggested the name Isolation Ridge for the vineyard, reflecting the remoteness of the site within Australia’s most isolated and sparsely populated wine regions. That name stuck, and the very nature of that solitude has deeply shaped the kind of operation Frankland Estate is, being tended almost solely by family hands and requiring a good deal of ingenuity along the way.

94 Points Nick Butler – The Real Wine Review Australia.

Organically grown and made, 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Wafts of dark chocolate, cedar and dried Italian mixed herbs are complemented by lifted red currants and mulberry. The palate is opulent yet focused. Ripe fruit abounds, balanced by mouth coating chalky tannin, which gives the wine texture and length. Ripe mulberry flavours intertwine with cacao and tobacco leaf. Heaps of familiar cabernet character from start to finish, delivered in power-on mode. All those red/blackberried aromas, with leaf and old-fashioned pencil-case senses, with a surge of mouth-filling tannins to cap it all off.” Cellar for a decade or decant for an hour or two.
“Aromas of mulberries, dried herbs, earth and cloves. Medium-to full-bodied with fine tannins and fresh acidity. Juicy and fleshy, with a creamy texture and spicy character at the finish. Drink or hold. From organically grown grapes.” 92 James Suckling.
“Frankland Estate is a superb, family-run, ecologically sensitive estate in a beautiful, extremely isolated location more than 200 km inland from the southern coast of Western Australia” Jancis Robinson.
