Angove Family Crest Shiraz 2017, Mclaren Vale.

Released at Vintages January 25 – LCBO #12842

It’s difficult not to look this gift horse in the mouth. It is generously endowed with regional black cherry, plum, dark chocolate and licorice. It’s only medium-bodied, but has very good mouthfeel. Drink by: 2029. Special Value. Score – 94. (James Halliday)

A dark citrus permeates the high tonality of this McLaren Vale shiraz, as does a minty-herbal jolt and more than a shake of white pepper. Mildly hedonistic, crunchy and even opulent, with silk threaded as tannin and with charm to spare. Drink 2020-2024. 90 Points Michael Godel

A very elegant shiraz showing a pleasant degree of restraint. Ripe but dry, with notable tannic presence on the palate. Offering great concentration of black fruit with just a hint of pepper that lingers on the finish of good length. Built to age. 90 Points Sara D’Amato

Appealingly ripe, dark fruit and dark chocolate-scented, this is fine McLaren vale shiraz, fresh, drinkable, lively even, with solid structure in the category. Length and depth are very good. Reliable, textbook post-modern stuff, in a lighter, zestier idiom. 90 Points John Szabo
