“For readers familiar with Rioja, Bodegas Weinert is the López de Heredia of Mendoza, making wonderfully traditional wines and sticking to its principles” Tim Atkin MW

Bodegas Weinert produces wonderfully savoury wines that show a combination of ripeness, Old Word flavours, savoury tones, minerality and velvety tannins. Intriguing wines that have more in common with older Bordeaux than modern day Argentina. Over 25 years ago Robert Parker declared “Weinert was making the most profound wine of South America”

Some acclaim for Bodegas Weinert:

“I visited the Weinert bodega on my very first visit to Argentina in 1989 and am told it is still an extraordinary building, more reminiscent of another age than a modern temple to wine making technology” Jancis Robinson

“The Chateau Musar of Argentina” Bartholomew Broadbent

“Weinert is certainly old, and even old world, and to these two we can add “old school.” To say they make wine in traditional ways may even be understating the case” Vinography

“At Weinert, “Barrique” is a four letter word” Vinography
2015 Bodegas Weinert Malbec “Carrascal” Mendoza – Argentina
$19.95 Per Bottle 12 packs.
Drinking lovely today. Almost half a decade of age has produced a wine with ample black velvety textured fruit, a nice core of cassis, dark licorice, charcuterie spice, savoury sage, plum and tobacco. A delicious wine with unusual complexity for the price tag.
