“HARD PRESSED TO FIND A BETTER RUN ESTATE”
“There are few better run estates in the world than that of the Jaume Family’s Domaine Grand Veneur. Located in the northern part of Châteauneuf-du-Pape and run today by brothers Christophe and Sebastien Jaume, the estate produces a quasi-modern style of Châteauneuf-du-Pape (their Les Origins and Vieilles Vignes) as well as a growing number of Negociant based wines from throughout the Southern Rhône.” Jeb Dunnuck
“You’ll will be hard pressed to find a better run estate than Domaine Grand Veneur, While the top cuvées can see a touch of new oak, this never detracts, and these wines are always loaded with Southern Rhône soul and character.” Parker’s Wine Advocate.
2022 Domaine Grand Veneur “Blanc De Viognier” Cotes Du Rhone Blanc – $30.95 per bottle.
Scents of spring blossoms and apricots give away the presence of Viognier in the Cotes du Rhone Reserve Grand Veneur Blanc. But the mouthfeel and flavors aren’t over the top; they’re kept in check by the blend’s Roussanne and Clairette
2021 Domaine Grand Veneur Cotes Du Rhone – Les Champauvins – $30.95 per bottle
Les Champauvins” sits on 34 ha classified in Côtes du Rhône. The plots are located in the northern border of Châteauneuf du Pape, 3 meters outside the appellation. Intense, brilliant garnet-red colour. It reveals lovely fruit, loads of body and a heady bouquet of ground peppers, raspberries cherry liqueur, currants, and spice box. Full-bodied and dense, it tastes more like a “Baby Châteauneuf” than a Côtes du Rhône.
2021 Alain Jaume Grande Garrigue Vacqueyras
$35.95 per bottle
The 2020 Vacqueyras Grande Garrigue is slightly more mid-weight, but it too is silky and seamless, with Provençal aromas and flavors, medium body, and silky tannins. Drink bottles over the coming 7-8 years as well. 90 Points Jeb Dunnuck
2020 Domaine Grand Veneur Châteauneuf Du Pape – Les Origines. $89.95 per bottle.
“Probably the most modern styled in the lineup, the 2020 Châteauneuf Du Pape Les Origines is 50% Grenache, 30% Mourvedre, and the rest Syrah. It’s completely destemmed and aged 16 months in 50% new barrels, with the balance in concrete tanks. It shows its élevage with a touch of spicy wood but has classic southern Rhône-like notes of black raspberries, cassis, licorice, pepper, and cured meats. Medium to full-bodied, balanced, and nicely concentrated, it’s a beautiful wine that will benefit from 2-3 years of cellaring and keep through 2035.” 93+ Jeb Dunnuck
