RICASOLI STRIKES GOLD
2020 BARONE RICASOLI SANBARNABA TREBIANO – $73.95 PER BOTTLE
SIX PACKS – 93 POINTS ROBERT PARKER’S WINE ADVOCATE
“Here’s a new wine from Barone Ricasoli, and in fact, no retail price had yet been set when I tasted it in July. But even without that information, you can see where Francesco Ricasoli is going with this sophisticated and texturally rich Trebbiano. This is a wine that promises modest cellar-aging potential, and it could be paired with aged cheese or even a plate of cacio e pepe thanks to the natural structure found here. The Barone Ricasoli 2020 Castello di Brolio Sanbarnaba is aged in a combination of amphorae, stainless steel and neutral oak. Only 5,600 bottles were made. It opens to a medium golden color and offers nutty aromas with mango, apricot and candied orange. It finishes on a glycerin-rich note. It should be interesting to come back to this bottle in five years. Fruit comes from old vines (from a massal selection), and the Ricasoli team had been experimenting with Trebbiano for 10 years before creating this new wine.”
