THE CASE FOR SUMMER

Tasca_awards

Tasca d’Almerita is among the 24 wineries in the world, among the 3 Italians to receive the Green Emblem seal from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, a recognition given by one of the most important critics of the international wine world to those who have shown extraordinary efforts in the search for practices virtuous agricultural and enological sectors, looking at long-term environmental protection and biodiversity protection.

To mark Tasca’s achievements we’ve assembled a celebratory mixed case of four wines from the Tasca estates. 12 bottles of wine that punch above their weight and offer remarkable value. 3 bottles of each. $350 per case

2019 Tasca d’Almerita Perricone “Guarnaccio” – (Sicily)
90 Points Wine Enthusiast – 93 Points James Suckling
“Spicy and floral on the nose, this expression of the lesser-known but worthy Sicilian grape Perricone opens with white pepper and violets followed by metallic umami notes of black olives and graphite. The palate offers wild strawberry and Bing and black cherries along with more flintiness, stones and wild herbs. A medicinal finish is carried through with relaxing tannins and plenty of acid.” Enthusiast
“Blackberries and dark plums with some peach. Walnuts and light asphalt, too. Medium-bodied with round, creamy tannins and a flavorful finish. I like the black-truffle and dark-bark undertones at the end. Sustainable.” J Suckling

2019 Tasca d’Almerita Tenuta Regaleali
Nero D’Avola Lamuri (Sicily) 90 Points Vinous
“The 2019 Nero is remarkably pretty , presenting a dusty display of crushed violet candies and blackberries contrasted by hints of smoke and white pepper, it’s silky in texture and quite elegant, washing across the palate with pure black and hints of blue fruits, while gaining a more tactile feel toward the close as hints of sweet tannins slowly saturate. Motes of salted liquorice linger, giving way to a subtle twang of spiced citrus.”

2021 Tasca D’Almerita – Regaleali Bianco – 90 Points Vinous.
“The sweetly scented 2021 Bianco is remarkably pretty, with white flowers giving way to ripe peaches, candied citrus and hints of wet stone. There are unexpected depths within, as soft textural orchard fruits cascade across a core of zesty acidity and salty minerals. A pleasant balance of sweet and sour keeps the expression wildly fresh”

2021 Tasca d’Almerita – Tenuta Whitaker – Grillo – Mozia
90 Points Vinous.

“The 2021 Grillo Mozia is spicy yet refined, wafting up from the glass with dried flowers, hints of peach skins and ground ginger. It’s round in feel with a core of green-citrus tinged acidity and saline-mineral tones that add a reverberation of cheek-puckering tension. Notes of tart Granny Smith apples and lime zest linger long, keeping the Grillo Mozia seated firmly in the green fruit profile, while leaving the palate thirsting for more. Very nice.”

Tenuta Whitaker is the modern re-creation of a vineyard that might have existed some 2,500 years ago on the island of Mozia in Sicily. This 100-acre islet (also known as Motya, Mothia, or San Pantaleo) lies in the Marsala Lagoon, around half a mile from the mainland of Sicily. It was identified as a very defensible position for a trading outpost by Phoenicians about 800 BC and eventually became a thriving city and one of the main colonies of the Carthaginians. It eventually was attacked and defeated by the Greeks around 400 BC, after which it disappeared from memory for two millennia.
