UNDERCOVER ICONS
The Losi family estate is 22 hectares of vineyards and 50 hectares of olive groves. The remainder of their property include undisturbed woodland stuffed with Cinghiale.
Located in the southern portion of the Chianti Classico wine region in Castelnuovo Berardenga, perhaps the most ideal Sangiovese grape growing area in Chianti. The family are staunch traditionalists and use a combination of traditional wood and cement for their spontaneous fermentation, as well as large botti for extensive ageing, to say the wines are unique, delicious and well priced is an understatement.
2016 Famiglia Losi Querciavalle Chianti Classico – 12 packs – $24.95 per bottle. 92 Points Wine Align – Michael Godel
“Talk about time. Losi’s Sangiovese demands it, insists it be granted and brings beauty when we are properly listening. The Alberese remains in charge (Tuscan Limestone) and the fruit is aching, waiting, nearly ready to bust out. So crunchy and chewy in simultaneous rumination, so cherry hematic and full of vintage wealth. One of the estate’s best vintages to date. Drink 2021-2028.” Michael Godel.
2015 Famiglia Losi Querciavalle Chianti Classico Riserva – 12 packs – $36.95 per bottle.

“Losi Querciavlle, bastion of one of the globe’s most impressive Alberese landscapes and home to some of this territory’s finest chiselled Sangiovese. Like marble structures slowly formed by only those who know how to separate the form from the mass. This is the intuition Pietro Losi and his prodigies know and gift to the world. Give their wines time and you will understand. Like this ’15 Riserva, strong, confident, understated, perhaps yet misunderstood but surely pure and true. Bravissimo. Drink 2023-2033.” Wine Align.
