Aromas of dried flowers and potpourri, with a mineral vein and hints of balsam. The fresh core of redcurrants is supported by elegant, finely tuned tannins and slightly volatile yet crisp acidity. A good finish with amazing length and a touch of sternness that's welcome in a young Barolo from a warm vintage. Alessandra Bovio's wines continue to impress, maintaining the success of last year and focussing on the refinement of noble tannins.

In the bottle with the purple label, Gianfranco Bovio's 2020 Barolo Parussi opens to a medium ruby color and a bouquet that shows extra precision and sharpness thanks in part to the wine's pretty mineral definition. Those aromas are a dead giveaway that this wine sources its fruit from the lovely Castiglione Falletto. The wines from this village are always distinguished by that special sharpness. The finish has loads of fruit, but it also has a salty side.
